Summer Darkness

The preacher speaks his sermon
the end is near he's certain
A cheating wife, she was not wise
she cannot look herself in the eyes
Another drunken kiss, politics
I don't see an end
The sun sets slow, now she must go
where she feels comfort

He says "throw your money in the river;
give your possessions to the poor
This world will be in flames
before the end of the day
And there's no salvaging,
no salvaging it."

Nature Videos

I would just like to announce that I have begun filming my nature videos as of Friday, June 17th, and am currently evaluating possible pseudonyms for my video collages. I am open to suggestions.

Tears Without a Title

The way this girl perceives me,
the look in her eye when she sees me
I trust she won't deceive me
God knows I'll be sad if she leaves me

A thousand miles from her
is less than she deserves
If leaving is loving and loving is leaving
then loving is letting her go
This I know, but it's so hard to be alone.

Water PSA

Completing this PSA gave me another opportunity to explore and get a better grasp on the technicalities of Final Cut Express. Though there were many ways I could have captured the footage better, or improved the audio, or any number of other things, I believe I worked well with my knowledge and learned some valuable things along the way (e.g. how to disguise mediocre lighting using numerous filters). It also helped me realize just how important each member of a film crew is, from the audio engineer(s) to the director himself. I now appreciate them more.

"4 Shots of Coffee"

Street lamps flicker off, at first hint of the sun
anger stirs, the world's a mess, on Highway 101.
Looks of malice, words unkind
hurtful gestures in my direction.
Four shots of coffee in the car; that's not enough
I want more, I need more.

Hawthorne Theatre

My band, Colorblind Soldiers, will  be performing at the Hawthorne Theatre on March 24th. We are sharing the evening with multiple acts, including Breathe Kid Breathe, Focus! Focus! and many more. This is our first major venue concert, and it would be greatly appreciated if the entire universe were to attend.

To buy tickets, go to www.aftonshows.com/colorblindsoldiers. If purchased by March 5th, you can get $2.00 off the online ticket price by using the promo code COLOBLIND 387. Tickets are also available at the door for $10.00 (though I strongly encourage buying online).

Rock on baby!

Podcast 101

Are you an aspiring television or radio host that is struggling to get picked up by the networks? No worries... podcasts are here to console your weary spirits. Before I list the steps it takes to create a podcast, I will briefly describe what a podcast is. Essentially, a podcast is an audio or video file on the internet made available for download on one's computer, PDA, etc.

Here's how you make one:

  1. First of all, you'll need to acquire a microphone. Personally, I would suggest the Blue Snowball for simple voice recordings and even musical ditties (however this is all subjective and depends on your means).
  2. The next thing you will need is some form of audio editing software. I believe the most recommended beginner software for this is Audacity, which you can download for free. Also, GarageBand is a great way to start out.
  3. Third, you will need a hosting site to upload your podcasts. This can be done right here on blogger, as well as many other places that specifically specialize in promoting and hosting podcasts.

S2-Video Collage

Expressiveness, the art of fidgeting-- angst.

What am I trying to convey in this video? Good question, Jeremy. Although the idea I am portraying is highly vague at this point, I believe the tone  I'm aiming for is one of anxiety and unique 'fidgeting' behaviour. It is challenging to pull all sorts of seemingly 'random' clips together to formulate a coherent story, and my biggest problem will probably be in how I choose to organize these clips.
